THE STORY BEHIND YP PETS
Made from the feeling of missing them at home.
I’m Andy, the founder and maker behind YP Pets. MiMi, my white cat, and DiDi are both still living, but family circumstances meant we could no longer share the same home. What I missed most was not one special moment. It was their everyday presence—the way they greeted me and how different home felt without them there.
I wanted something more tangible than a photograph saved on a phone. I wanted a keepsake I could see and touch, one that could hold both a pet’s image and the feeling attached to it.
That became the beginning of YP Pets, an independent keepsake studio in New York. I make each piece by hand, bringing together a real pet photograph, personal words, and flowers chosen for what they help express.
My hope is to create something gentle and lasting for people experiencing loss or separation, or simply wanting to honor the life they share with a pet.
THE LANGUAGE OF FLOWERS
Every flower begins by hand.
Flowers have carried meaning for centuries, helping people express feelings that ordinary words cannot always hold.
I chose to build YP Pets around flower language because remembrance, separation, love, and celebration each carry a different feeling. A forget-me-not speaks to lasting remembrance. A white rose holds quiet, complete love.
The flowers are not simply decoration. I draw, texture, color, and shape each one by hand before arranging it for an individual keepsake.
